The ND Vision Services/School for the Blind Foundation announces a grant program
designed to help meet the educational needs of students who are visually
impaired. Eight or more grants, each worth up to $500 will be awarded.
Grants will be awarded to help pay for
equipment needs, personal needs, camps, daily living skills training,
orientation and mobility training, specific skills training, adaptive
recreational/leisure equipment, technology, or other special needs.
Educational needs will be given priority, as will requests that provide
matching funds.
Eligible recipients are Infant through Grade 12 students who are visually impaired residents of North Dakota. (Criteria are 20/70 vision
corrected, or a restricted field of vision)
Up to two adult grants will also be granted.
Equipment received through these grants will become the property of, and
will remain the property of, the person who is visually impaired.
Parents, teachers, vision consultants,
and principals of students who are visually impaired are encouraged to submit proposals.
Those over 18 years can submit the application themselves.
Deadline for submitting proposals is January 15.
Awards will be announced by March 15.

for the Blind Foundation is a non-profit organization funded entirely by
donations. The foundation supports
and works closely with the North Dakota Vision Services/School for the Blind,
but it is a separate and distinct organization.
